Cymru Originals – New Brand Launches with Local Pride at its Heart

A new Welsh-inspired merchandise brand has launched this week, celebrating local humour, heritage and community pride.

Cymru Originals, created by The Bangor Aye team, has gone live with a growing range of T-shirts, mugs and gifts inspired by Welsh identity, terrace culture and regional character.

The brand is initially launching with a Bangor-focused collection, drawing on North Wales dialect and recognisable phrases - from “World’s Biggest Moiderer” to “You Big Dingler” - alongside football-inspired pieces and designs rooted in place.

Rather than mass-produced imports, products are printed locally in North Wales through production partner Sional, keeping manufacturing close to home while supporting regional enterprise.

Built Around Welsh Pride

Wales has no shortage of pride, personality and strong local identity – yet independent merchandise brands rooted specifically in Welsh culture remain relatively rare.

Cymru Originals aims to build gradually, starting in Bangor and expanding over time to reflect communities across Wales.

The Bangor Aye team confirmed the venture is a side project developed behind the scenes.

“We’ve spent years telling local stories. This is simply another way of celebrating the character and pride that exists across Wales.”

Orders ship UK-wide, with free local collection available in North Wales.

If you believe Welsh identity deserves to be celebrated, and you recognise yourself in the humour – you can explore the collection here: 👉 https://cymruoriginals.co.uk

Because sometimes pride isn’t just something you talk about, it’s something you wear.
